Basically I have 2 weeks until my 40th birthday and I am 20-25kgs over weight so I dont think I have enought time to get fit by 40 so I have set the goal of being 75kgs by my 41st birthday.
Over the last 3 years I have had a reacurring ankle injury that has meant that I have been unable to train properly and since this time I have bulked up aroud 10kgs. In august I found out that I had ruptured the ligaments in my ankle which was why I was constantly hurting it. This coupled with an addiction to coke (coca cola) has helped my weight steadily increase.
I have decided that enough is enough and I need to start loosing the extra weight I am carrying to enable me to start playing basketball properly again. The ankle is still not right but I have to stop makiung excuses and get on with it.
I am 5 foot 8 inches and currently 95kg which if I take my playing weight when I was 20-25 years old of 70kgs means that I am 25kg over weight!!!!
Yesterday I started my aerobic exercise program which will consist of 1 hour every morning on the exercise bike. In the hour yesterday I did 29.6km as I was taking it easy and I stayed on level 2 on my exercise bike.
I am planning to do 2 months of this every morining to see how much weight I can shift. I am then planning to switch 3 of the aerobic hours for a basketball jum training programme to make the most of the weight loss and increase my 2 footed jump to take some of the stress of of my gimpy ankle.
Today I am going to put up a second basketball hoop at the country clubbe we go to (sounds posh but it isnt really) so that I can start playing basketball every night as well to help with the weight loss.
My secondary goal is to dunk the basketball again by my 41st birtdhay.
